Conference Review

This year's end of year review conference for depot managers had ended.

The 3-day conference which begun from Wednesday 12th to Friday 14th, December took place in the conference center of the head office, in Accra

The theme for this year's conference was dubbed "The role of traffic managers/officers in increasing revenue generation whilst reducing cost through efficient fuel utilization and long distance operation". This theme was chosen because, management realized that fuel consumption has increased and as such resulted in revenue loss to the company.

In attendance were the Managing Director, Mr. Henk Visschers, The Deputy Managing Director. Mr. Martin Afram, the Traffic Operations Manager, Mr. Hastings Acquah Wilson and 14 depot Managers out of the 15 Managers. Absent from the meeting was the depot manager Swedru who could not attend because he was reported top be sick.

According to the Managing Director, the aim of the meeting was to communicate and make decisions quarterly to ensure that plans implemented are successful. He said "this conference is also a platform to promote co-operation or otherwise promote teamwork among the various depots".

The conference centered on various discussions including fuel monitoring, challenges facing the introduction of long distance routes, hiring procedure, incident of accident cases; preventive measures and road safety mechanisms, standard luggage system, check and control mechanisms and concern of  managers.

The Traffic Operations Managers, Mr. Hastings Acquah Wilson advised managers who are not computer literates to allow staff who were knowledgeable in that field to handle their computers rather than locking them up in their officers.

The Managing Director said this kind of meeting will be held every quarter of the year. The 3-day conference however ended with managers more determined to make their depots the most cost effective fuel depot.
