The urban service is operating in any greater urban
area. It connects central bus terminals with city outskirts and provides
upon that medium-distance transportation to villages in the surrounding
of a (regional) capital. The urban service is characterized by commuters
and market women that move in between their homes and the various
business centers.
Hit & Run
Most of the transport providers in Ghana wait at the various terminals
until all seats in their vehicles are occupied in order to make a
maximum revenue. The capacity of MMT buses however is too big to wait
for until it is filled. The operational management of MMT introduced the
philosophy of Hit & Run in its operations, i.e. buses are build to move
and not to be parked. MMT targets to realize a maximum parking time of 5
minutes at every terminal in Ghana. Passengers are kindly asked to buy a
ticket in advance and queue before a bus arrives. The Hit & Run system
will increase the frequency of all urban and rural services in order to
optimize the customer satisfaction.
